Working as an obstetric nurse in healthcare
Would you like to support expectant mothers during one of the most exciting and joyful periods of their lives? As a self-employed obstetric nurse through Vince, you are in control of your working hours and rates, while we support you with administration and planning. This allows you to focus entirely on caring for pregnant women and new mothers.
What does an obstetric nurse do?
An obstetric nurse supports women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. You will often work in the Obstetrics department of a hospital and have close contact with midwives, gynecologists, and pediatricians. You will monitor the health of mother and child, provide guidance during contractions, assist with deliveries, and provide information about nutrition, bonding, and recovery. Psychosocial care is also important, as pregnancy can have a significant emotional impact on women (and their partners).
